    number of candidates in the week starting 3 August 2009 which is ! F9 A. t6 b1 h$ j0 ~
    designed to show postholders what the job of a Patent Attorney
/ C$ Q( r5 e0 x( x3 }    really entails. Successful candidates will receive first hand
6 R% Q$ S, D: ?, X& q    experience dealing with the UK Patent Office on high tech matters
( G" x6 Q) ]$ v% g' B8 P# S4 u9 G    within their own field and will be shown the basics of patent 9 M9 B) s; w; \' I. t) U
    drafting. Finally, successful candidates will handle a ) v1 R8 C& X( T6 w( a! V" Z
    contentious matter using skills learnt over the course of the
- y# S1 x" L+ {7 a$ _6 \  a    placement to defend or challenge a patent against other placement - t6 r( y; O3 Y8 R& X' q/ f
    students with an audience of patent attorneys.
