    The firm is running a Summer Placement Scheme for a limited ' w2 t& n' f& I7 P
    number of candidates in the week starting 3 August 2009 which is
- ]2 _9 `0 y9 f( _$ [    designed to show postholders what the job of a Patent Attorney % C: S& x3 O) k) G5 _2 P# W
    really entails. Successful candidates will receive first hand
/ }  w4 N2 E+ D" T6 K    experience dealing with the UK Patent Office on high tech matters / r/ B! M$ ~9 h1 K# A& |" i
    within their own field and will be shown the basics of patent
! m+ R# ~# U& d  }, Y! V8 C; U    drafting. Finally, successful candidates will handle a - ^4 R3 Q$ V3 ^
    contentious matter using skills learnt over the course of the
8 J& E+ N$ W0 v2 L" ~) k    placement to defend or challenge a patent against other placement
) \+ S+ N" S, X. Y8 H2 E" g+ w    students with an audience of patent attorneys.
