    number of candidates in the week starting 3 August 2009 which is
' t. b$ p  ~/ ]! {& K, [4 M8 W6 W  y    designed to show postholders what the job of a Patent Attorney
8 h0 d/ {. b3 |& U    really entails. Successful candidates will receive first hand : f) U: w( Z  k6 ~7 ]6 H( J
    experience dealing with the UK Patent Office on high tech matters ( |7 X; _4 g7 o8 h1 R
    within their own field and will be shown the basics of patent ( M# g2 d6 d7 R8 m
    drafting. Finally, successful candidates will handle a
2 E. L1 W" ]1 E) ~4 A* s: {. h" h    contentious matter using skills learnt over the course of the
. N$ `6 d& ?2 E# r4 ~    placement to defend or challenge a patent against other placement 7 {9 m! j' O* b0 I; S* @
    students with an audience of patent attorneys.
