我在学校网站上看的,那个宿舍又说有own shower,又说是shared bathroom...

self contained means 'cook by yourself'...i guess...?

self contained = cooking by self. it will have cooker in flat. you need to prepare food by yourself.

there has another kind of flat that will provide food for you.

there are lots of accommodations that are not en-suit but self-contained, and cheap. wwp, gp, weston are all like this.

own shower = this flat has shower...but it's in the shared bathroom.... this is my understanding.
