续签的一些银行STATEMENT的注意问题

续签的一些银行STATEMENT的注意问题

Dear students

We want to warn you that if you have a bank account with HSBC and wish to use temporary statements produced in the HSBC branch as evidence of your funds to support your visa extension you may be refused a visa.

This is because HSBC staff will not to stamp these statements in the bank, which means that the UK Border Agency will not accept them as evidence. A number of students around the UK have been refused a visa for this reason and some are currently appealing the decision. It may be that one student will win their appeal and this problem will go away but until that happens, we have to advise you to do one of the following:

1, If you wish to use HSBC bank statements, you must ask the bank to post you an original statement. It can take up to 10 days for the statement to arrive so you should request one as soon as possible.

2, Obtain a parent’s original bank statement, your birth certificate and an original letter from your parent confirming that the money is for your studies. If any of these is not in English, you will need to obtain a certified translation. There is translation agency called Veritas http://www.veritaslanguagesolutions.com at the University but you can use any certified translator

3, Open an account with another bank and transfer the money you will need as evidence for your visa application to that account. Before you do that, check that they will stamp your temporary statements.

Please remember that if you apply for your visa extension after 1 October, you will have to show that you have had the money in your account for one month.
